Baccarat Policies
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards than are of a value less than 10 are said to be at their printed value whereas ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they simply appear as the two hands to be played).
Two hands of two cards are then given to the ‘banker’ as well as ‘player’. The score for every hand will be the sum of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is removed. For eg, a hand of seven … 5 has a tally of 2 (7plusfive=twelve; drop the ‘1′).
A 3rd card can be dealt depending on the foll. protocols:
- If the player or banker has a total of eight or nine, the two gamblers stand.
- If the bettor has five or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or less. If the bettor hits, a chart might be used to judge if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The greater of the two scores will be the winner. Victorious wagers on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even odds minus a 5% commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure to have funds still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to 1. Winner bets for tie as a rule pays out at eight to one and sometimes nine to 1. (This is not a good bet as ties will occur less than one every 10 hands. Avoid wagering on a tie. Nevertheless odds are radically better – 9 to 1 versus 8 to 1)
Played accurately, baccarat offers relatively good odds, aside from the tie wager obviously.
Baccarat Strategy
As with just about all games, Baccarat has some common myths. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way an indicator of future results. Staying abreast of past results on a chart is undoubtedly a waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most common and possibly most successful method is the one-3-two-6 scheme. This tactic is deployed to build up successes and lowering risk.
Begin by wagering 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract four so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the 3rd bet, add two to the 4 on the table for a grand total of six on the 4th wager.
If you lose on the 1st bet, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet quickly followed by loss on the second brings about a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Coming away with a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. Thus that you can get beaten the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
