Baccarat Regulations
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards than are of a value less than ten are said to be at their printed value while at the same time 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they just portray the two hands to be played).
Two hands of two cards will then be played to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The total for any hand will be the total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is discarded. For example, a hand of 7 … 5 will have a value of 2 (sevenplus5=12; drop the ‘1′).
A third card can be given out depending on the following standards:
- If the bettor or banker has a value of eight or nine, both gamblers stand.
- If the gambler has five or less, he hits. bettors stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of 5 or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart is used in order to determine if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The bigger of the 2 scores wins. Winning wagers on the banker pay 19 to 20 (even money minus a 5 percent commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure that you have dollars left over before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for tie typically pay out eight to 1 but sometimes nine to 1. (This is not a good bet as ties occur less than 1 every ten hands. Avoid placing bets on a tie. Nevertheless odds are somewhat better – 9 to one versus 8 to one)
When played correctly, baccarat offers generally good odds, aside from the tie wager of course.
Baccarat Tactics
As with all games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is in no way an indicator of future events. Monitoring of previous results on a chart is definitely a waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most popular and feasibly most successful tactic is the 1-3-2-6 method. This method is used to amplify wins and lowering risk.
start by betting 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, clear away 4 so you have 2 on the 3rd bet. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the four on the table for a value of six on the fourth gamble.
If you lose on the 1st bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first 2 with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Accomplishing a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. In other words you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
